Ugh, I Don’t WANNA Workout!

Here’s the honest truth, sometimes, I don’t FEEL like working out.

Yeah, I said it. There you have it.

Even I, A HEALTH COACH AND PERSONAL TRAINER, don't alwaysss feel like working out.

There's this HUGE misconception that people in the fitness industry are always motivated to workout, and that's just plain and simple, not true. Ask quite literally, anyone.

You know that saying, “Feel the fear and do it anyway?” The truth is, you can't get rid of fear. People aren't fearless, they just do things in spite of being fearful. You can apply the same concept here. Feel the resistance, and do it anyways.

Do it because you are committed to your health.

Do it because you deserve to move your body today.

Do it because you're worth taking care of.

Do it because you promised yourself you would.

Here's a secret though, you don't need to do the same workout you would on the days you feel really good and have a lot of energy.

In the moments I really don't want to workout, instead of doing nothing, I do something low intensity / low effort.

Because here’s the thing, something is better than nothing.

Working out consistently is HARD when you’re expected to be ON every day.

You’re placing an unnecessary expectation on yourself.

Think of The Rule of Thirds (by Connor Swenson):“When you're chasing a big goal, you're supposed to feel good a third of the time, okay a third of the time, and crappy a third of the time...and if the ratio is roughly in that range, then you're doing fine.”

Apply this to working out:

  • The days I feel good, I’ll do some heavy weight lifting, go for a run or do a short HIIT.

  • The days I feel okay, I’ll do lighter weight lifting, a vinyasa yoga class, or pilates.

  • The days I feel crappy, I’ll go for a walk, do a yin yoga class, stretch, or dance to some happy music.

Exercise is SO good for your physical and mental health and well-being.

The key here is exercise options.

If you always feel like you’re forcing a workout you may be harming your relationship with exercise which will lead to resentment, inconsistency, and frustration.

Don’t do that to yourself.

Find multiple things you like to do and have those things on rotation.

I have a free guide that’ll help you do JUST that:

and remember, motivation isn't reliable.

If you think you'll be motivated every day to workout, you'll rarely ever workout.

Motivation might be the lighter that sparks the flame, but it is NOT what keeps the flame lit.
